Things are harder these days. There are parents that cannot afford to send their kids to college because of the expenses. If you are a student in Singapore and you want to continue your studies despite the hardships, there are many things that you can think about. For instance, you can apply for a scholarship.

You can also enrol at national universities that are subsidized by the government. If you cannot handle it, fret no more because you can still consider local polytechnic colleges. Polytechnics are colleges offering vocational courses. Polytechnic colleges offer a variety of courses which are below the bachelor’s degree level. Courses include engineering, mass communication, digital media, humanities, social sciences and biotechnology.

You will spend three years to get that diploma. But you need to have a good Institute of Technical Education (ITE) score to qualify or enrol. The good news is that when you finish the course with good grades, you are given the opportunity to pursue higher education at local and overseas universities. Here’s a list of Singapore’s local polytechnics you can enrol at:

Singapore Polytechnic – SP was established in 1954 making it the first polytechnic in Singapore. It is located at Dover.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic – NP was established in 1963 making it the second polytechnic in Singapore. It is located at the edge of Bukit Timah suburban district which encompasses about 33 hectares.

Temasek Polytechnic – TP was established in 1990 making it the third polytechnic in Singapore. It is located near the Bedok Reservoir. The campus covers about 30 hectares of land. It was an ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 certified institution.
